R Family Farms

Kaden and Emily Roush

The R Family Farms, owned and operated by Kaden and Emily Roush is known for their unique hog operation located near Lebanon, KS.

While I spent the evening with them and their pigs, they explained the significance of their five hoop barns and what each is used for.

More than just being cute, Kaden and Emily keep watch over each and every piglet ensuring their immune system is functioning and the piglets are living a healthy life.

While owning and operating a startup pig farm can be difficult, their relationship has strengthened over time. Standing side-by-side they invested countless hours into developing and customizing each of their hoop barns to ensure their pigs grow efficiently and healthfully.

This is what "Real Pig Farming" looks like.

Fun Fact: pigs do not produce sweat like us humans do. Therefore, they are not able to cool off their bodies when the summer heat attacks. Kaden and Emily provid water misters in each pen which contribute to the mud baths. A mud bath is a pig's way of keeping cool during the summer heat.

Fun Fact: You might be able to find their pork product at a nearby Whole Foods. They also run their own retail business and have product available often. Let me tell you their 'pork sticks' are worth every penny.
